Wi-Tribe Wireless Broadband

The Wi-Tribe wireless mobile internet broadband service is now available in the Philippines, and you can get it at the affordable rate of only P999 per month.

That monthly subscription package gives you up to 1 Mbps of internet broadband speed. Compared to other providers in the Philippines, this gives you around double the internet speed since other P999 packages only give you up to 512 Kbps.

Wi-Tribe Philippines is handled by Liberty, and is backed by San Miguel Corporation and QTel. You can sign up for your wi-tribe package in some SMC offices, and also in select Petron gasoline stations.

For more details, feel free to visit their website at http://www.wi-tribe.ph, or better yet, give them a call at 31-TRIBE.

The wi-tribe system gives you a wireless modem that you may move from fixed location to fixed location. For example, you can use it in your home and also in your office.

We still have to test, however, if this will work while you are in motion.

Also, you will need to closely coordinate with the wi-tribe support group particularly in terms of which areas their service covers. Since they’re quite new, certain areas in Metro Manila do not yet receive their signal.

Over time, though, you can expect the coverage to increase. Since more Filipinos are using the internet, and since demand for multimedia and online video keeps increasing, so will demand for a high speed internet broadband service.

And the great thing about mobile broadband is that even if your area does not have a landline or a DSL service, you can still connect to the internet. If your residential area is covered by wi-tribe, that is.

What does this mean for online publishers and internet marketers? Expect your market reach to expand further. You will need to learn to send out your message online not only in terms of text and images, but also in other forms such as audio and video.

There is no escaping the fact that people don’t read as much as we used to, and that customers will expect or even demand that we serve them information in multimedia format.

With the growing ability of Filipinos to access internet broadband services, you will lose out if you don’t learn how to reach this increasing group of consumers.

On the other hand, if you are a consumer, then you will lose out on the wide array of offers provided via the web. That’s why you will also need to connect to the internet (if you haven’t already).

True, you can still rely on internet cafes, but as you make the transition from consumer of online content to producer of online content, then you know you will need to gain broadband access from either your home or your office.

This year holds many opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs who are keenly watching the trends, and are anticipating where they should position themselves in the future.

With the emerging wi-tribe community, what do you think your next move should be? :-)
